What are cannabis flavonoids, and what do they do?

Many BMWO cannabis growers and cannabis consumers recognize that more than two hundred bioactive compounds are present in cannabis, but phytocannabinoids and terpenes are much more commonly known and targeted by many consumers. However, they are not the only necessary compounds for cannabis. Take flavonoids, for example; about 10% of these cannabinoids are identified, with about 20 known varieties of cannabis.

Cannabis plants are not unique to flavonoids. There were thousands of them in the form of fruits and flowers. However, others are considered only to be present in hemp. This is related to cannaflavins. Like terpenes, flavonoids play a part in how our senses interpret cannabis. Yet flavonoids are far better than what our nose and taste buds meet. Here we discuss in this article what cannabis flavonoids are and what they do.

Flavonoids exist throughout nature.

Flavonoids consist of a series of polyphenolic compounds which serve for various plants as secondary metabolites. With more than 6,000 distinct types of flavonoids found.

The word “flavonoid” derives from the Latin expression flavus, which refers to the color yellow in nature. This is rational given that flavonoids’ primary role is to provide plants, particularly in flowers, with color pigmentation to attract pollinators.

Like many edible non-green-pigmented fruits and vegetables, many species owe their vibrant colors to flavonoids. Flavonoids often shield flowers and plants from elements such as possibly dangerous like pest, rays and different type of diseases.

Flavonoids give cannabis character

We also relate terpenes to cannabis aroma and taste, but flavonoids still play an essential role in distinguishing strain varieties with the distinctive characteristics that we use. The odor and taste of cannabis are possible because of the synergistic nature of terpenes and flavonoids.

In addition, flavonoids also influence cannabis pigmentation as other flowers. The flavonoids identified as anthoxanthines or anthocyanin owe to the exquisite deep purple cannabis strains.

Flavonoids may be synergistic in cannabis.

“Environmental impact” is a phrase commonly employed, explaining the synergistic nature of a variety of pharmacologically active cannabis compounds. Our bodies have an endocannabinoid system, a large network of receptors spanning almost every organ and system inside us.

The explanation that we feel different for such combinations of these bimolecular is attributed to these different compounds’ synergistic properties. For example, cannabidiol (CBD) modulates THC blood-brain barrier effects. It is known that flavonoids have identical synergistic properties. It is not fully understood if they boost the properties of cannabinoids or modulate their effectiveness, and more study is required.

In order to better clarify the role of BMWO cannabis flavonoids, an additional study needs to be done. Recently, international studies have published new findings in chemical profiling that will help us understand the complicated mysteries of cannabis better.
